Hear Me Out!

If you diagnose my problems Dear Dad, please do not leave it there

Care to find some remedies and make things clear.

Involve me in my learning, do not simply instruct.

Adjust your advices to suit my needs, not simply assess.

I can not only help my friends, but help my own self too

I can find my own niggles if only you guide me through

Please give me some opportunities, to improve as I learn

Don’t think I’m not learning, when I seem to be having fun

I learnt the ‘Solar system’, while playing ‘passing the ball’ game

I could name all planets in order, couldn’t write in the test what a shame!

But didn’t I write all eight correctly, when I showed them in a diagram?

When my mother sends me to market, to buy my favourite food

I keep the count of money well, don’t know why in test I’m no good

Dear Dad Please see me perform in my weekend dance school

I can keep count of all my steps, I’m sure better than even you could!

All my counting goes haywire when I sit to write a test

But that is not the only way to judge me what I’m sure I know the best.

I want you to ask ‘Nitin’ my friend, who got an A+ in English exam

The flawless way I explained the direction in the park to a lost man

My friend ’Nitin’ will agree that he could not do it as well as I did

So, I think he should tell you dad that my language skills are a hit.

Be it language, counting or geography my skills I know are no less.

I feel very strongly that in my school grades too it should reflect!
