Adopt the Pace of Nature..
More and more the COVID 19 pandemic spread across the world and more scientists and doctors found out about the disease, more it became evident that it is a disease that affects lungs and causes difficulty in breathing. It is a highly infectious disease that chiefly spreads by air. Since then the humanity has shut itself indoors, away from crowd, away from nature, away from everything.
I, being someone who loves to be in isolation and alone most of the time , all this social distancing business has come as a blessing in disguise but what has in fact left me absolutely shattered is not being able to interact with nature because ‘My Lungs’ in fact need the natural scenery, air mountain, rivers, waterfalls, to inflate, to breathe. For my lungs to be happy, they have to be amidst nature. Since the lockdown began, I find myself standing in windows and staring at sun, moon, clouds, rain, stars wondering if the sun has sensed the plight of planet Earth or it is still moving freely and with abandon across the green fields , mountains and deep forests? Whether the moon’s light has dull pain or still throwing silver sprays on the planet Earth? Whether the clouds are releasing rain with a touch of sad tears? Whether mountains wish to bow down and caress the land to extend some comfort? The animals, birds and trees in the forests are relieved that the human is the one at the receiving end this time? Really if I were a tree, I would have no reason to love a human.
Standing in my windows I realize, whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination and calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting over and over announcing your place in the family of things and these days my place remains inside my house most of the time. But then I am reminded of the quote of Ralph Waldo Emerson- “Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” And I tell my lungs, to be patient, nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn, you will inflate, breathe, expand blissfully again, till then adopt the pace of nature!
